Do I need to buy a ticket?

Entry to the site is free for all, you don’t need to buy a ticket or book. The running of the Bike Park is solely funded through revenues from the car park, coaching, events and donations.

Is there car parking and how do I buy a ticket?

There are up to 60 spaces available. Please park in a designated parking place. These are located at the end of the car park through the wooden fenced area.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOUR TIME STARTS FROM WHEN YOU PASS THE GATES AT THE START OF THE LONG DRIVE.

All trails are clearly marked with difficulty level, type of bikes and any other information you need. If in doubt, please check the trail maps at the entrances and collection points.

Always ride within your comfort level and build up to bigger features over time. The site is designed to aid your progression so start with East trails and when you have built your confidence you can try the West trails.

Can I bring groups to the Bike Park and guide them?

We do not allow commercial guiding on site, however, if you are organising a group of friends and would like to use the Bike Park please let us know by emailing us at info@northamptonbikepark.org

If you are interested in improving your skills, why not join one of our coaching sessions?

Is there a minimum age to ride?

All ages are welcome, but children aged 15 and under must be supervised by a responsible adult (over 18 years) at all times.

Can I ride an E-bike?

Yes, E-bikes are welcome on the trails so long as they meet EU directive EN151194. E-bikes used must:

  • Be fitted with a motor with a power of no more than 250w.
  • Provide a maximum assisted speed (i.e. the speed at which motor assistance is automatically cut off) of no more than 25 kmph (roughly 15.5 mph).
  • Not be fitted with a full speed throttle that can work ‘independently’ (that is without the pedals ‘moving forward’). Start Up Assist throttles (those that assist up to 6 km/h) are allowed.

Please note, to ride an E-bike you must be 14 years of age or older by UK law.

Can I use a child's seat/carrying device?

These are not recommended due to the lack of testing of these devices on mountain bike courses, we would not want to put your child at risk.

Can I take my dog to the Bike Park?

Yes you can but only on the permissible walkway around the site that is clearly marked. Please keep your dog on a lead at all times (this includes trail dogs) for their safety and that of the other users. And, of course, please pick up or “stick and flick” any dog waste.

What do weather warnings mean?

From time to time we may need to issue a weather warning.

Northampton Bike Park is built to be rideable all year round. Harsher conditions will require a greater riding ability so please only ride if you are experienced in all-weather riding. We may, in the event of extreme weather conditions, decide to close the park to ensure everyone’s safety.

Can you hire a bike?

At the moment we do not have a bike hire facility.

One of our sponsors AJ Cycles based in Rushden Lakes do hire out bikes, please see the website for more details.
